History Of Atisbo

Atisbo Local Government is situated in the Okeogun region of Oyo State, Nigeria. It was created in November 1996 by the then Military Government of Nigeria, led by General Sani Abacha. The local government was carved out from the defunct Ifedapo Local Government.

The acronym ATISBO represents the component towns and areas within the local government: A - Ago-Are and Agunrege, T - Tede, I - Irawo, S - Sabe, B - Baasi, O - Ofiki and Owotoro
Atisbo Local Government shares boundaries with Saki-West Local Government to the Northwest, Saki-East Local Government to the Northeast, Itesiwaju Local Government to the Southeast, and Iwajowa Local Government to the Southwest.

The local government has a significant land area of 2,997 km2 and had a population of 110,792 at the 2006 census. Its headquarters is located in the town of Tede, and the postal code for the area is 203.
