History Of Gboko

Gboko Local Government Area is in Benue State, located in Northcentral Nigeria. The headquarters of Gboko Local Government Area is in the town of Gboko. Gboko LGA was created on the 11th of May, 1970.

Gboko LGA has a landmass of 2,264 square kilometers. According to the 2006 census, Gboko had a population of 358,936, making it the largest by population among the twenty-three local governments in Benue State. The estimated current population is 171,284 inhabitants. Tiv, Hausa, and English are the languages most widely spoken in Gboko.

Gboko LGA shares borders with Tarka, Ushongo, Buruku, Gwer, and Konshisha LGAs. Some towns and villages in Gboko LGA include Mbatan, Mbakpegh, Ukpekpe, Mbaaverakaa, Mbadim, Mbaanku, and Igyorov.
