History Of Ikeduru

Ikeduru Local Government Area is situated in the western part of Imo State, Nigeria, in the southern region of the country. It shares borders with Mbaitolu, Isiala Mbano, Ahiazu Mbaise, and Owerri North LGAs. Ikeduru LGA was previously carved out of Mbaitolu / Ikeduru LGA. The headquarters of Ikeduru LGA are located in the town of Iho (Ihuo).

Ikeduru LGA shares a border with neighboring LGAs such as Mbaitolu, Mbano, and Mbaise. Towns and villages within Ikeduru LGA include Amakohia, Inyishi, Amaimo, Umudum, Uzoagba, Ikembara, Atta, and Akabo. These communities contribute to the socio-economic and cultural landscape of the LGA.

The estimated population of Ikeduru LGA is 134,730 inhabitants, with the majority belonging to the Igbo ethnic group. The Igbo language is widely spoken throughout the area, reflecting the cultural heritage of the community.
