History Of Kurmi

Kurmi  Local Government Area (LGA) located in Taraba State, Nigeria. The headquarters of Kurmi LGA are situated in the town of Ba'Issa.

Kurmi LGA is bounded by the Republic of Cameroon to the south, Sardauna and Donga Local Government Areas to the southeast and northeast respectively. It is also bounded by Bali Local Government to the north, Donga and Ussa Local Government Areas to the northwest and southwest respectively.

The LGA covers an area of approximately 1681 square kilometers with a population of 91,531 based on the 2006 census. The estimated population of Kurmi LGA is approximately 129,648. Towns and villages within Kurmi LGA include Abong, Akoferi, Karanuwa, Gwanda, Tigon, Nyido, Dogo, and Bangara. The area is mostly inhabited by members of the Ndola ethnic group, and the Ndola language is widely spoken in the area.
