History Of Lau

Lau Local Government Area (LGA) is in Taraba State, Nigeria, with its headquarters located in the town of Lau. The area is predominantly inhabited by the Winlau people. The name "Lau" is derived from the local Lau language, meaning 'mud.'

It shares borders with Ardo Kola, Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing LGAs within Taraba State, as well as with Numan in Adamawa State. The LGA covers an area of 1,660 square kilometers. According to the 2022 census, the population of Lau LGA is estimated to be 149,700. The estimated population of Lau LGA is approximately 169,303 inhabitants.. The postal code for the area is 662.
