History Of Mariga

Mariga Local Government Area (LGA) is situated in Niger State, which is part of the North-central geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The administrative headquarters of Mariga LGA is the town of Bangi, located in the northern part of the area. Other notable towns include Igwama and Inkwai.

Mariga LGA covers a vast land area of 5,552 square kilometers. According to the 2006 census, Mariga LGA had a population of 199,430 inhabitants.

The Hausa language serves as the primary means of communication in Mariga LGA, widely spoken by the majority of the population.
Additionally, various endangered Kamuku languages are spoken in the area, reflecting the linguistic diversity of the local communities.
