Obot Akara Local Government Area is situated in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It is a Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State. The headquarters of Obot Akara Local Government Area is located at Nto Edino.

The estimated population of Obot Akara LGA is reported to be 119,703 inhabitants. The majority of the population in Obot Akara belongs to the Annang ethnic group. The Annang language is commonly spoken in the local government area.

Obot Akara shares boundaries with Essien Udim, Ikono, Ini, and Ikot Ekpene Local Government Areas within Akwa Ibom State. It also shares borders with parts of Abia State.

Some of the towns and villages that make up Obot Akara Local Government Area include Abiakpo, Ikot Abia, Itu Edino, Usaka, Nto Esu, Imana, Ibiakpan, and Ikot Utu.
