History Of Ogun Waterside

Ogun Waterside Local Government Area was created on May 15, 1989. It covers an area of about 860.32 sq. km. Bounded in the west by Ijebu East Local Government. Bounded in the north and east by Ondo State. Bounded in the south by Lagos State and the Atlantic Ocean.

The headquarters of Ogun Waterside is in Abigi. The local government has 10 wards, namely Iwopin, Oni/Alo, Ibiade, Lukogbe/Ilusin, Abigi, Efire, Ayede/Lomiro, Ayila/Itebu, Makun/Irokun, and Ode-Omi. The people are primarily Yoruba, with the predominant language being the Yoruba language. Dialects spoken include Ijebu, Ikale, and Ilaje.
