History Of Okigwe

Okigwe Local Government Area is located in Imo State, Nigeria, in the southeastern part of the country. According to the 2005 census, Okigwe has a population of 132,237 inhabitants. Okigwe Local Government Area covers an area of approximately 405 square kilometers.

Okigwe LGA is home to several communities and villages, including Eziama, Eziachi, Umuna, Amankuta, Amucha, Umuihi, Nneoma, and Nneato. The population of the local government area is predominantly Igbo.
The main languages spoken in Okigwe LGA are Igbo and English.
