History Of Onicha

Onicha Local Government Area is located in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
Towns. The LGA is made up of several towns, including Oshiri, Onicha-Igboeze, Abaomege, Ukawu, Isu, and Isinkwo. The administrative headquarters of Onicha Local Government Area is located in the town of Isu.

Onicha Local Government Area was created in 1996 from the then Ohaozara local government under the administration of General Sani Abacha during the creation of Ebonyi State. The local government is made up of two subgroups of Igbo people: Ezza people (Ukawu, Abaomege, and Isinkwo) and Ohaozara people (Oshiri, Isu, and Onicha-Igboeze).

Onicha LGA has an area of 476 km⊃2;. According to the 2006 census, Onicha Local Government Area had a population of 236,828 inhabitants. The postal code for Onicha LGA is 491.
