History Of Orsu

Orsu Local Government Area (LGA) is situated in Imo State, Nigeria, in the southeastern part of the country. The LGA is home to an Igbo sub-group known as the Orsu people, who primarily inhabit the area west of Orlu, north of Oguta, and in surrounding areas such as Oru East, Oru West, Ihiala, Nnewi South, and Oguta LGAs. The Orsu dialect is spoken by the people of this area.

Orsu LGA is comprised of several autonomous communities, including Ihitenansa, Amaruru, Amazu, Amaebu, Amannachi, Awo-Idemili, Asaa Ubirielem, Eziawa, Umuhu Okabia, Orsu Ihiteukwa, Okwu Ufuruaku, Okwu Amaraihe, and Okwu Etiti. The estimated population of Orsu LGA is 194,223, with the majority of residents belonging to the Igbo ethnic group and speaking the Igbo language.

The headquarters of Orsu LGA is located in the town of Awo-Omamma. Orsu LGA shares borders with Oguta and Orlu LGAs to the east, Ideato North and Ideato South LGAs to the south, Njaba LGA to the west, and Isu LGA to the north.
