Oru East Local Government Area (LGA) is located in Imo State, Nigeria, within the southeastern geopolitical zone of the country. The headquarters of Oru East LGA is situated in the town of Omuma.

Oru East LGA shares borders with several other LGAs in Imo State, including Njaba, Mbaitoli, Orlu, Oguta, Orsu, and Oru West. The towns and villages that constitute Oru East LGA include Ofekatai, Omuma, Amiri, Akatta, Akuma, Eziawo, and Awo-Omamma.
