History Of Owan East

Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. The headquarters is in the town of Afuze. The administrative headquarters of Owan East LGA is in the town of Afuze.

Owan East LGA comprises 69 towns/villages organized into eight clans: Emai, Igue, Ake-Ievbu, Ihievbe, Ikao, Ivbi-Mion, Ive-Ada-Obi, Otuo, and Uokha. Owan East shares borders with Akoko-Edo LGA to the north, Etsako-West LGA to the east, Ekiti State to the west, and Owan-West LGA to the southwest. It is also bordered by Esan Central LGA and Uhunmwonde LGA to the south.

The LGA has an area of 1,240 square kilometers. The population of Owan East LGA was recorded as 154,385 persons (81,847 males and 72,538 females) at the 2006 census.
