History Of Potiskum

Potiskum Local Government Area is located in Yobe State, Nigeria, specifically in the northeastern region. The city of Potiskum serves as both the local government area and the most populous and fastest-growing city in Yobe State. It is situated on the A3 highway at coordinates 11°43′N 11°04′E.

Potiskum LGA covers an area of 559 square kilometers (216 sq mi). The LGA has a current estimated population of 198,404 inhabitants. Potiskum LGA comprises several towns, districts, and villages, including Piri, Mussa, Mamudo, Bauchi Road, Indiski, and Kandahar.

Potiskum is home to several major ethnic groups, including the Karai-Karai, Bolewa, Ngizim, and Hausa-Fulani. The Bolewa and Hausa languages are widely spoken in the LGA.
