Sokoto South Local Government Area is located in Sokoto State, Nigeria, within the North-west geopolitical zone. The headquarters of Sokoto South LGA is situated in the town of Sarkin Zamfara.

Sokoto South LGA covers a land area of 41 square kilometers. According to the 2006 census, Sokoto South Local Government Area had a population of 194,914 people. However, recent estimates suggest a population of around 268,511 inhabitants. The area is predominantly populated by members of the Hausa and Fulani ethnic groups.
