Tarmuwa Local Government Area is located in Yobe State, Nigeria, in the northeastern region. Its headquarters is in the town of Babangida at coordinates 12°06′27″N 11°45′14″E.

The majority of Tarmuwa's population consists of members of the Kanuri, Hausa, and Fulani ethnic groups. The Kanuri language is spoken alongside other languages in the area.
