History Of Unuimo

Onuimo Local Government Area (LGA) located in Imo State, Nigeria. It is situated in the South-east geopolitical zone of the country. The headquarters of Onuimo LGA are in the town of Okwe.

Onuimo LGA comprises four towns, namely Okwe, Okwelle, Umuduru-Egbeaguru, and Umuna. The LGA covers an area of 87 square kilometers. According to the 2006 census, Onuimo LGA had a population of 99,247 inhabitants. The estimated population of Onuimo LGA is put at 169,433 inhabitants.

Onuimo LGA is made up of several towns and villages, including Okwelle, Alaike, Umuodumodu, Uhi, Umuduru, Ofeahia, Umuna, Ezelu, and Diakuma. The vast majority of the area’s dwellers are members of the Igbo ethnic group. The Igbo language is commonly spoken in the LGA. The postal code of Onuimo LGA is 470.
