History Of Uruan

Uruan Local Government Area is situated in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. It is a Local Government Area located in Akwa Ibom State. Uruan Local Government Area was created in 1988, carved out from the Uyo Local Government Area. The capital city of Uruan Local Government is Idu. Uruan people speak the Uruan language.

Uruan Local Government Area covers an approximate landmass of 449 square kilometers. The region is known for its wildlife, raffia palm, and timber. According to the 2016 Census, the population of Uruan Local Government Area was reported to be 164,000.
