History Of Zurmi

Zurmi Local Government Area is situated in Zamfara State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are located in the town of Zurmi, positioned at coordinates 12°46′00″N 6°47′10″E.

Zurmi LGA covers an area of 2,834 square kilometers. According to the 2006 census, it had a population of 293,837 people. The postal code of Zurmi Local Government Area is 882. The area is predominantly inhabited by members of the Hausa/Fulani ethnic groups. The Hausa language is commonly spoken in Zurmi LGA.

Zurmi LGA shares borders with parts of the Niger Republic to the north and Katsina State to the east. Its boundary extends up to Gurbin Bore. Zurmi LGA is governed from its headquarters in Zurmi town. The LGA hosts the Zurmi Emirate and comprises several towns and villages, including Gurbin Bore, Kwashabawa, Birane, Mayasa, Tungar Fulani, Mashema, and Tubali.
