The constant creation of these new apps, which is aimed at improving and enhancing our smartphone and tablet experiences, makes it difficult to keep track of them all.

It's not an easy task to pick out the best, especially when people's interests are diverse. 1) Bookmark Manager

This is a simple app for managing bookmarks. Most people use Chrome or Firefox syncing. Thus, this isn’t useful for everyone. With this app, you can easily save your bookmarks. In turn, the app helps you manage it instead of your browser.

There is a categorical organisation system and you can import and export bookmarks. The latter is helpful for switching devices. The use case is admittedly niche, but the app works pretty well and it’s useful for people who use a browser without a sync function.

2) GameOn

This new app which is from Amazon is a social network for gamers to upload various clips. Unlike Twitch, this one focuses on shorter content. You can upload things like highlights, short clips, funny moments, and stuff like that. It integrates with over 1,000 games on Android, including Crossy Road, PUBG Mobile, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, and others. Videos can be anywhere from 30 seconds to five minutes long. It’s almost like TikTok but for gaming.

3) My Income

This app is a simple finance tracker with which you input how much money you make, all the things you spend it on, and you can also see a log of all of your expenditures.

It’s excellent for budgeting or for tax write-offs for the self-employed. The app supports over 200 currencies, multiple themes, the ability to export your data (in CSV format), and see your spending in chart format.

The app is entirely offline so nothing gets sent to any servers unless you export and do it yourself. Though it’s not perfect at the moment, it’s new so the developer will likely improve it over time.

4) Noobly

Gamers will definitely enjoy this app. With this app, you can set up a profile with all the games you like to play and your various interests. From there, you find profiles with similar stuff to yours and then meet up and game.

The matching algorithms focus more on similar likes than anything and some people even try to use this as a dating app.

There is also a time zone converter, a chat function, and some other features as well. The core loop is free but you can buy some extras on the side if you want. This one is in early access beta so expect some bugs here and there.

5) Olauncher

Olauncher is a different kind of launcher. It boasts a minimal UI, fewer distractions, and less customization than many others. The lack of customization is on purpose because customization is distracting.

The launcher doesn’t support icons. Instead, your home screen is a list of the apps you use most frequently. Your app drawer is much the same. There are some light customization elements but nothing gaudy or distracting.

You can hide apps you don’t want to see and there are some experimental features as well. The launcher is entirely free with no advertising and it’s open source.

6) SideSqueeze+

SideSqueeze+ is a unique Android customization app. It adds the ability to squeeze the device as a command. Google removed the functionality from the 2020 lineup of Pixel devices. This app adds it back. It’s mostly for Samsung Galaxy phones from 2017 onward (with weather sealing), but it does work with some other devices.

The app includes seven detectable squeeze types, three detectable press types, and plenty of other functionality. Some of the features require some ADB work, but nothing too complicated for power users. It’s not marketed toward Pixel owners, but there are Reddit and XDA threads showing that it does work.

7) Socreates

Socreates is a wellness app for healthier minds. It’s a super niche app but some may find it useful. The app contains a variety of quizzes, tips, tricks, and advice about various life situations.

Most of the stuff you can find on blogs all over the Internet. However, the interactive element helps tailor the experience a bit more for what you need. Again, it’s a niche, but it does work and it works rather well.

8) SpeechLab

SpeechLab is a simple text to speech app. You can do things like change the speech engine, language, and voice, but the functionality is about the same. You can add text into the app and the app makes a computer voice speak it. Finally, you save speaking if you want to use it later.

Some other features include speech-to-text functionality, a dark theme, offline support, and more. It’s good for accessibility use cases and YouTube channels can use it for subtitles as well. In any case, the premium version is $0.99, but you don’t really need it since the app is free with no limits and no ads.

9) Starlink

Starlink is the official app for Starlink. Starlink is SpaceX’s ambitious effort to beam the internet down on the planet from satellites in orbit. The beta is available now for selected people and the app helps you set everything up.

The app consists of tools for people who do get the service. It seems well put together and the reviews are fairly positive. 

10) Zenchat

Zenchat is a new chat and to-do list app from the developers of Zenkit. It merges chat functionality with a to-do list (or task) app and it works reasonably well. Any message can turn into a task if you want it to. The task portion of it has things like recurring tasks, reminders, and stuff like that. The chat function also works pretty well.

This is obviously a Slack or Microsoft Teams competitor in the making and it has some potential. We hope it continues to get improvements.
