10 Players With The Most International Goals Playing In FIFA

The FIFA World Cup 2022 has been spectacular so far and some players have shown potential promises of high-scoring games as some record-breaking goalscorers will don the jerseys of their national teams by the end of this prestigious tournament.

All teams are expecting their strikers to score the maximum amount of goals to get closer to winning the competition and eliminating the opponent countries.

Today we beam the spotlight on 10 players with the most international goals representing their nations in the FIFA World cup 2022 in Qatar.

10. Oliver Giroud From France

Olivier Giroud is sadly one of the most underrated footballers in the world. The French star has scored 49 goals in 114 appearances for France.

He recently broke the record as the all-time goal scorer for France by breaking the record which Thierry Henry was previously known for.

Giroud played a crucial role-playing as a target man for France in winning the 2018 World Cup but he failed to score a single goal in the competition.

He is currently in the 25 men’s squad for the Qatar World cup where he is playing alongside Karim Benzema.

9. Aleksandar Mitrović From Serbia

Mitrovic has played a crucial role for Serbia in the past two years.

On March 27, 2021, he scored Serbia’s first goal in a 2-2 tie with Portugal, breaking Stjepan Bobek’s previous record of 38 goals and becoming the national team’s all-time leading scorer. He is also underrated by football fans.

Mitrovic scored a last-minute winner against Portugal on November 14, 2021, bringing Serbia to the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 victory.

He has scored a total of 50 goals for Serbia in 76 appearances. He is expected to give an outstanding performance in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

8. Harry Kane From England

Kane scored back-to-back first-half hat-tricks in England’s last two 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino (including a “perfect hat-trick” against the former and a poker against the latter) to help ensure England’s qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He netted his 50th international goal against Germany in the league phase of the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League in June 2022.

Kane has shown that he is one of the best strikers of this generation, scoring 51 goals for England in 76 appearances.

He was the top goal scorer in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

7. Edison Cavani From Uruguay

During the China Cup in March 2018, Edison Cavani was a part of Uruguay's squad.

His 100th cap came in the final against Wales, where he scored the game's lone goal. He also scored in the 2-0 semifinal victory over the Czech Republic.

He has 58 goals in 113 games and Cavani should not be underrated as he poses a threat in this 2022 World Cup alongside Valverde and Nunez.

6. Luis Suarez From Uruguay

In addition to being the all-time leading goal scorer for Uruguay at the international level, Suárez also holds the record for most goals scored in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying matches.

He has, nonetheless, represented his nation in competition at three FIFA World Cups, four Copa América competitions, the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. He has scored 68 goals in 134 games.

5. Romelu Lukaku From Belgium

In a 9-0 home victory in a Euro 2020 qualifying game against San Marino, Belgium's Romelu Lukaku scored his 50th and 51st goals for his nation.

On June 12, 2021, he scored twice as Belgium defeated Russia 3-0 in their opening group-stage match of UEFA Euro 2020.

However, two days after the championship game, Lukaku was selected as the lone representative from Belgium in the UEFA Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament.

He has totalled 68 goals in 102 games.

4. Neymar From Brazil

Neymar holds the record for the most goals scored by a Brazilian player in FIFA World Cup qualifying games with a total of 12.

Argentina defeated Brazil 1-0 in the championship game on July 10. Neymar and Argentina's Messi were the tournament's top players for their respective performances, despite the team's loss.

On September 9, 2021, Neymar scored Brazil's second goal in a 2-0 victory over Peru to surpass Pele as the nation's all-time leading scorer in FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

Neymar has scored 75 goals in 121 matches for Brazil.

3. Robert Lewandowski From Poland

On October 5, 2017, Lewandowski broke Wodzimierz Lubaski's previous record of 48 goals by scoring three goals in a 6-1 victory over Armenia to take the top spot as Poland's all-time leading scorer.

In total, he scored 16 goals to complete the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification process, setting a record for a European World Cup qualifier.

On June 19, 2021, he became the first to score in three straight European Championships.

Lewandowski has 134 appearances for the national team and 76 goals to his credit.

2. Lionel Messi From Argentina

Lionel Messi, undoubtedly one of the best players in the world of football and the arch-rival of Cristiano Ronaldo, has a shockingly poor record on the international stage by his standards.

However, the former Barcelona superstar only has seven career hat tricks for Argentina while having an unmatched 48 for the La Liga team.

He has scored 92 goals in 166 games and is aiming to take advantage of his final opportunity to help Argentina win the World Cup.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo From Portugal

With a staggering 118 goals in 192 appearances, Cristiano Ronaldo dominates the list of international football goal scorers.

The Portuguese international overtook Ali Daei of Iran as the top international goalscorer in men's football on September 2, 2021, when he scored against the Republic of Ireland in a World Cup Group Qualifying match.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 10 hat tricks for Portugal's national team.

Since the 37-year-old has seven goals from the FIFA World Cup and 14 goals from the UEFA Euro. He also has the most international appearances at the UEFA Euros.
