12 passengers of a commercial bus on Sunday escaped death as the vehicle burst up in flames on the River Niger Bridge, Onitsha, Anambra State.
The incident happened at about 1:30 pm and the occupants of the vehicle escaped before it was burnt beyond recognition.
Sources said the cause of the inferno was suspected to be an electrical fault.
Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Adeoye Irelewuyi, said the fire service team was promptly alerted and the situation was under contro
"A hummer bus was on flame on the River Niger bridge.
"The fire service was alerted and they responded swiftly and brought the situation under control. All passengers are safe.”
