....Senegal, Uganda settle for 3rd place final

Nigeria's Super Falconets on Monday night beat Uganda 2-0 in the semifinals of the 13th African Games to reach the final of the women’s football tournament and set up a mouthwatering clash against hosts Ghana on Thursday, reports Allnews.ng

The Ugandans, true to their coach's prematch comments, proved tough nuts to crack and it took 16 minutes to regulation time before the more gifted Nigerian side could break their resistance at the Cape Coast stadium through second half substitutes Judith Adah Okah and Chiamaka Okwuchukwu.

The Ugandans played a deep defensive line and sought to catch the Falconets on the counter but the introduction of  Adaobi Okah for Kehinde Shobowale and Chiamaka Okwuchukwu for Motunrayo Ezekiel proved to be the magic wand that unlocked the game with their pace and trickery.

Okwuchukwu added the ice on the cake with a minute left to play to set up a final against hosts team, Ghana that beat Senegal 3-1 in the second semifinals match.

The Black Queens of Ghana buoyed by home support, got ahead with an 18th minute strike from Tracy Twum while Ophelia Amponsah doubled the hosts' advantage in the 45th minute.

In the 53rd minute the young Teranga Lionesses got a lifeline through Kande but Ghana's Amponsah got her brace two minutes after Senegal struck to make victory certain for the Ghanaians.

Uganda and Senegal will slug out the losers final for a bronze medal and podium finish.
