A total of 15,550 signed petitions have been submitted to the office of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, demanding an expediency at passing the bill for the prohibition of sex-for-grade and other sexual harassment, this is according to members of Exam Ethics Marshals International, a civil organization.
It was reported that the petitioners consist 56 percent females and 44 percent males, and that the petition was shared on the internet, with internet users “still signing the petition until the bill is signed into law and implemented.”

When the group had earlier tried to push for the passage of the bill, external mechanisms thwarted the efforts in 2016 after its submission in the 8th Assembly, a release by the body stated.
