161 Fresh Libyan Returnees Arrive Nigeria

 

161 stranded Nigerians on Thursday arrived Nigeria following the renewed repatriation efforts of the European Union and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The returnees arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos aboard an Al-Buraq air with flight number UZ189 and registration number 5A-DMA.

Ag. Coordinator, Lagos Territorial Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, gave the breakdown of the returnees as; 48 female adults, four female children, five female infants as well as 102 male adults, one male child, and one male infant

The federal government has continued to repatriate Nigerians after news of slave trading and inhuman treatment of Africans attempting to cross over to Europe broke out. Migrants who tried to cross the Mediterranean Sea to the European shores are placed in detention centers across Tripoli and sold as slaves.
