The 93rd Academy Awards will honour the movies that were released between January 1, 2020, and February 28, 2021. Presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), it will take place on April 25, 2021.
Per US Today, nominees and guests will qualify as essential workers to attend the event in Los Angeles as the former group has been mandated to be physically present.
Additionally, there will no alternative option for nominees to attend the event via Zoom, and a letter to that effect clearly stipulates that those who will be unable to make it due to scheduling or traveling concerns won't have a Zoom perspective.

The letter reads in part: "For those of you unable to attend due to scheduling or continued travel concerns, we want you to know that there will not be a Zoom option to go live.
"We will do everything possible to provide a safe evening for you all to enjoy in person, as well as all the millions of fans around the world, and we believe that virtual overshadows all those efforts.
"Those who cannot attend, the Academy will accept the Oscar on their behalf."
The April 25 date of the 2021 Oscars is two months later than originally planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is assumed that protocols will be put in place for the safety of all attendees at the event.
