The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced that 60.74 per cent of the candidates who sat for the 2022 examination scored five credits and above in both English Language and Mathematics.
The council just released the 2022 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) (internal) results, stating that a total of 1,198,412 candidates garnered five credits in the two generally compulsory subjects.
However, compared to the 878,925, representing 71.64% of the candidates who sat for the 2021 SSCE, a 10% decrease was seen.
The Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi who announced the result at the council's national headquarters in Minna, Niger State said a total of 1,198,412 sat for the exams, although 1,209,703 registered for it.
Wushishi in giving a breakdown of the candidates said of the 1,198,412 candidates, 630,180 were male, representing 52.58%, while 568,232 were female, representing 47.41%.
“Number of candidates with special needs is 1,031 with the breakdown as follows, 98 with albinism, 177 with autism, 574 with learning impairment and 107 visually impaired,” he added
The Registrar further revealed that 13,594 candidates, representing 0.13% candidates were involved in examination malpractice compared to the 20,003 representing 1.63% of the cases recorded in 2021.
The NECO boss disclosed that 29 supervisors were blacklisted for their involvement in several violations including shoddy supervision, conspiracy, and abuse.
”Upon the foregoing, four schools were recommended for de-recognition for two years due to their involvement in mass cheating/whole school,” Wushishi also said.
