2022 BET Awards: Fireboy DML Gets Standing Ovation Over Performance [Video]

Fireboy DML literally brought flames to the stage with his energetic performance for the first time at the 2022 BET Awards on Sunday, June 26.

The Afrobeats singer kicked off his performance with the rendition of his recent single ‘Playboy’ before transitioning into his smash hit ‘Peru’

His dancers on stage also added spice to his performance.

The singer lost to his Afrobeats colleague Tems in the ‘Best International Act’ category.

Speaking on what it is like to see Afrobeats amplified at an international level, Fireboy said he is honoured to be part of the generation making that happen.

“Honestly, it's such a blessing. It's an honour to be part of the forerunners of this culture.

"I'm just really excited to see Afrobeats go global because this is what we have been fighting for for centuries.

"I'm honoured to be part of the generations that made it possible.”
