The 2022 Golden Globes took place on Sunday, January 9, 2022, and for the first time, there was nothing like the usual red carpet or telecast as the 79th edition was reduced to a live blog.
Despite the decision of many to boycott the ceremony, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association went ahead with the event as members and recipients of the group's philanthropic grants converged at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
At the 90-minute show, the names of the film and TV winners were announced on the organizers' social media feeds, with Steven Spielberg's West Side Story nabbing several big awards, including Best Picture Comedy or Musical.
Netflix drama The Power of the Dog won Best Picture Drama and director Jane Campion's direction also received recognition, as well as actor Kodi Smit-McPhee's supporting performance.
Other winners at the event include Will Smith for King Richard, Nicole Kidman for Being the Ricardos, and Andrew Garfield for Tick, Tick... BOOM!
Drive My Car, a Japanese feature, nabbed Best Non-English Language Motion Picture, while Disney animated musical Encanto won in that category.
