Rivers United goalkeeper Sochima is filled with excitement following his call-up to join the Super Eagles for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures.
Head coach Jose Peseiro on Thursday named Sochima in the squad to face Guinea-Bissau as a result of his impressive form for the Pride of Rivers in the Nigeria Premier League and the CAF Confederation Cup this term.
Nigeria will first play host to Guinea Bissau on Friday, March 24 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The reverse fixture will then take place at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau on Monday, March 27.
Speaking to DAILY POST about receiving his first invitation to play for the national team, Sochima said he can only give thanks to God Almighty.
He equally appreciated those who have supported him through thick and thin in his football career.
“It’s just been God all through," said the former Kastina United shot-stopper.
"I’m really thankful to everyone that has supported my career to achieve this great feat."
