2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Super Eagles Beaten By Guinea Bissau In Abuja

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been beaten by the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau in the first leg of their 2023 AFCON qualifying fixture.

They lost 1-nil to the visitors at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday.

Mama Balde scored the winner of the match in the 29th minute after receiving a perfect long pass from Opa Sangante.

The Eagles, despite having in-form Victor Osimhen in a star-studded attack, were unable to get themselves back on level terms and turn the game on its head as their performance on the night was far below average.

With the result, the Super Eagles drop to second position while Guinea move to the summit of the table in Group A.

The reverse fixture will be played on Monday, March 27 at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau and the Super Eagles will be hoping to avenge their loss and end their winless run of four games.
