2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Super Eagles Confirm Osimhen's Arrival In Camp

2023 AFCON Qualifiers: Super Eagles Confirm Osimhen's Arriva

The wait for Victor Osimhen to join the Super Eagles squad is over as the Napoli frontman is now in camp.

Media Officer of the team Babafemi Raji confirmed that he checked into Super Eagles John Woods Hotel camp in Abuja yesterday night.

Raji also said that the 24-year-old missed the team’s second training session at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja as a result of a flight delay in Lagos.

“Victor Osimhen is here with us. He checked into camp on Tuesday evening," he told ThisDay correspondent.

"Although he did not take part in the evening training, we hope to see him at morning training tomorrow (Wednesday).

He however allayed fears of Osimhen not featuring in the double header against Guinea Bissau over reports of his club asking for a scan.

"On the reports of Napoli asking for a scan, so far there is nothing of such and any medical matter will be appropriately handled here. There is nothing to worry,” he added.

Osimhen's arrival has brought the number of players in camp to 22 following the arrivals of Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho and Villarreal's Samuel Chukwueze earlier on Tuesday.

Only Zaidu Sansui who plays for Porto is yet to report to camp, though Raji revealed that he will be joining the squad on Wednesday, two days before the Eagles take on the Djurtus (Wild Dogs) in Abuja.
