The Nigerian ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lieutenant General Yusuf Tukur Buratai (Rtd) has denied interest to contest the seat of the president of Nigeria in the 2023 election.

Buratai said his loyalty to the president, Muhammadu Buhari is unshakable while appreciating the president for the opportunity to serve as an ambassador to the Benin Republic.

This was made available to newsmen in a statement signed by Brigadier General Sani Usman Kukasheka (Retired).

Usman stated that Buratai who was the former Chief of Army Staff was aware of the campaign posters and calls for him to contest for the seat of the president come 2023 general elections, but has no interest to answer the call.

The statement partly read, "It is essential to state that the ambassador has never indicated interest, discussed with or directed anyone on such matter."

Buratai further distanced himself from the campaign posters urging promoters to desist.

He added that he was contented with his position while serving the country.

"His excellency wishes to reiterate his contentment and commitment to national service in his present capacity as Nigeria's ambassador to the Benin Republic," the statement added.
