2023 Election: Gombe PDP Loses Member To APC

The Gombe State People's Democratic Party (PDP) has lost one of its famous members, Safiyanu Existing, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

He was also a one-time State Coordinator of the Atiku Support Organisation (ASO), a grassroot support group campaigning for the election of former vice president Atiku Abubakar. 

Following his defection to the APC, Existing declared his support for the re-election bid of governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of the state.

Existing made this known on Friday in a statement he personally signed.

He said the decision followed consultation and evaluation of the candidates vying for the office of the Gombe State Governor. 

"After a thorough consultation and evaluation of the pedigree of the political gladiators seeking the mandate of the people of Gombe State, I Safiyanu Existing of the People's Democratic Party PDP and a one time State coordinator of Atiku Support Organisation ASO hereby endorse the candidacy of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for a second term in office as Governor of Gombe State."

Explaining why he declared his support for governor Yahaya, he said the decision was influenced by the performance of the governor in protecting the mandate of the people. 

He further called on his supporters to join him and support the re-election bid of the governor. 

"To this end, I call on my teeming supporters and admirers to join me as we support the second term ambition of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for a sustainable development and shared prosperity."
