The Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana, has expressed optimism of victory for his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Gubana made this known on Saturday after casting his vote for the governorship and state assembly elections.
The deputy governor who voted at Gubana Primary School with polling unit number 35/05/06/008, in Fune Local Government Area of the state, said he was impressed with the level of turnout of people for the voting exercise.
"You can see how people turned out to vote for people of their choice."
He added that this has demonstrated the commitment and strength of democratic principles.
This was contained in a statement by Hussaini Mai Suleh, spokesperson to the deputy governor, on Saturday.
According to Suleh, Gubana commended the election observers, media, security and other stakeholders for playing a vital role that will make the election successful.
He also called on the people of the state to vote wisely, assuring that those voted for will serve them accordingly.
He further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for providing all necessary logistics to ensure a free, fair, peaceful and successful election.
