The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has visited the Gwandu Emirate, seeking support ahead of the forthcoming guber election.

Idris who made a stop at the palace of the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, said the visit was to seek fatherly prayers and blessings from the Royal Father.

He said he attaches high respect to the esteemed traditional institution as a title holder of Kauran Gwandu.

The APC candidate recalled that both former Governor Sa’idu Dakingari and Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu visited the palace for such prayers prior to becoming Governors and were both successful.

He noted that having served diligently as a teacher for thirty-five years in the state, he would perform well to uplift the living standard of the people if elected.

This was contained in statement signed by Yahaya Sarki, spokesperson to governor Bagudu, on Monday.

According to Sarki, the Emir, in his remark, advised politicians and seekers of political offices to imbibe the virtues of patience, perseverance, tolerance and piety in the pursuit of their ambitions.

He noted that Idris had intimated him on his intention to contest for the governorship seat.

He further prayed for God’s guidance to Idris, whom he described as a son and title holder of the Kauran Gwandu.

"The Emir also admonished leaders and politicians at all levels to strengthen their faith in God as the Ultimate Supreme Being who gives and takes away power to and from whoever he desires."
