2023 Election: Okorocha, Others To Set Up New Political Part

The former Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha has revealed that he and some other unnamed politicians are planning to set up a new political party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Making this revelation while speaking to journalists on Monday, Okorocha explained that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was formed in a hurry to unseat the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to Okorocha, APC failed to put into consideration the character of individuals it accepted into the party.

Further pointing out that Nigerians were unhappy with the current state of the country, Okorocha who currently represents Imo West Senatorial District at the Nigerian Senate disclosed that progressive-minded politicians had perfected plans in response to the current state of the nation.

The former governor also called on all good politicians to regroup and work towards restoring public confidence in the government and save the country.

Okorocha however, warned that Nigerians can no longer be fooled by mischievous politicians come 2023.

 “The movement for a new Nigeria has begun and we must come together, I mean progressive Nigerians to make the country work," Okorocha said.

According to the former Governor, "APC was a hurried arrangement. It was hurriedly formed to take power when the then government was drifting."

He further explained that the party was  "better until people who were not members of the party; people who came for congratulatory messages hijacked the party and became lords.”

The Senator further revealed that the new coalition will be championed by persons with a proven track record of achievement and public spirit.

He pointed out that it was no longer ideal to allow people without the genuine interest of the country to hijack power in the future.

Recall that Okorocha had in the cause of last week advocated that a new political alliance be formed.

Okorocha who currently holds a position at the senate on the platform of APC started having issues with the party after his blessed candidate for the Imo state governorship election was sidelined for the current state Governor, Hope Uzodinma.

However, despite being of the same party, Okorocha and his successor had not been in good terms.
