The Benue State Government has declared Friday a work-free day to enable workers of the State to proceed to their various communities to vote in the general elections.
This is as the Presidential and National Assembly elections come up this Saturday, February 25, 2023.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Culture & Tourism, Hon. Michael Inalegwu, disclosed that the decision was taken on Thursday during the state Executive Council meeting in Makurdi the state capital.
However, the statement noted that "the following sectors are however exempted from the work-free day and will therefore continue to provide services to the public tomorrow. These are the Judiciary, Security, Banks, Hospitals and Fire Service."
Council further urged Benue people to conduct themselves peacefully during the elections as they have done in previous ones.
