Falz, a popular Nigerian rapper and actor, was attacked by thugs at his polling unit earlier today during the ongoing presidential election.
His phone was stolen but he was able to retrieve it.
In a video posted on his social media page, Falz narrated how the thugs came to his polling unit and started beating up voters and snatching their phones.
The thugs destroyed some ballot boxes before the military arrived to restore peace.
Voting continued after the intervention of the military.
“Earlier in the morning around while I was on Instagram live, a couple of thugs came, they were snatching phones and beating people at my polling unit.
“They snatched my phone but I was able to get it back; that is the phone I am using to do this video now.
“They destroyed a couple of ballot boxes before the military eventually arrived.
"The military was able to restore peace and then we were able to vote.”
Falz also mocked a political party for claiming to have a strong structure and yet sending thugs to disrupt the electoral process.
He questioned why the party had to resort to violence.
“I just have a question; didn’t they say they have the structure in the world when it comes to political stuff?
"What then happened? Why did you send your thugs?” Falz asked.
Despite the disruption, Falz’s polling unit still managed to conduct a peaceful election.
According to him, the Labour party won the presidential election while the PDP won the senatorial and house of representative positions.
He added that they waited for the votes to be counted before leaving.
