2023 Elections: INEC Chairman Stabbed Nigeria's Soul — Melaye

2023 Elections: INEC Chairman Stabbed Nigeria's Soul — Mel

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, has come under fire over the results of the just-concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.

The Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council (PCC), Dino Melaye who blasted Yakubu over the conduct of the commission said the latter stabbed the soul of the nation.

According to the aggrieved PDP chieftain, the INEC chairman has graduated to overvoting in his second term in office.

Addressing the President-elect, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Melaye stated that his victory is temporal.

“Our nation is bleeding, the soul and spirit of our nation is crying for justice and vengeance.

INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu

“Professor Mahmood Yakubu stabbed the very soul of Nigeria when he graduated from having an inconclusive election in his first tenure.

“He has graduated to overvoting in his second term in office.

“In his first term, the PDP and opposition parties were disenfranchised by the concept of inconclusive elections.

“The new strategy adopted by Mahmood now is overvoting.

“90 per cent of the state results that were presented announced over voting.

“Strongholds of the PDP, the declared over voting and cancelled elections in those areas.

“The over-voting recorded amounted to over two million votes.

“But because they do not want the margin of cancelled votes to be more than the margin of winning, they reduced it to 900 and something but it is a fallacious lie and it will not stand.

“I want to announce to Bola Tinubu that your victory is temporal and evaporative.

“I repeat again, your victory is temporal and evaporative. We will upturn that stolen mandate”, Melaye declared.
