2023 Grammys: Tems Wins, Burna Boy Loses Award

Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has won an award at the 65th edition of the prestigious Grammy awards 2023.

The 2023 Grammy Awards ceremony was held at the Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday night and was hosted by American comedian Trevor Noah.

The highly talented and accomplished singer took home the prize in the coveted ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category.

This recognition is for her exceptional vocal and writing abilities on the chart-topping hit ‘Wait For U’ featuring Future and Drake, and marks her first Grammy win after four previous nominations.

On the other hand, Burna Boy was nominated in two categories but unfortunately did not come away with a win.

He was beaten out in the ‘Best Global Album’ category by Masa Takumi and their album ‘Sakura’ and also failed to win in the ‘Best Global Performance’ category, which went to the collaboration between Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode for the song ‘Bayethe’.
