The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has pledged to prioritise education and empower young people if elected in 2023.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kwankwaso made the promise during the inauguration of the Kano State NNPP’s presidential and governorship campaign office on Sunday in Kano.
While speaking to the party's supporters, he said that youths in the country would smile in 2023 as they would be back in school.
“Those of you that are supposed to be in primary school will be back while the outstanding ones will be at foreign universities", Kwankwaso stated.
He further said that no nation could achieve greatness without providing quality education for its citizens so that they could contribute to the development of the country.
Kwankwaso also vowed to ensure adequate funding for the education sector.
According to him, the crowd who welcomed him showed they were yearning for a new set of leadership in Nigeria.
“This crowd signifies the need and urge for new leadership not only in the state but the country at large.
“The biggest surprise will come when our party, the NNPP will win the 2023 presidential election God willing", he said.
