The Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali has reversed the deployment of CP Balarabe Sule, a former chief security officer to the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Sule, to the state on election duty.

The IGP transferred CP Faleye Olaleye from Ebonyi State to Kano to take charge of the command during the election.

The Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) had led a protest in Kano after a daily Nigerian report that the trio of CP Balarabe Sule, ACP Adamu Babayo and ACP Abubakar Shika would be posted to the state.CP Faleye Olaleye

According to insiders, the three police officers, who once worked together as a team in the state, were widely believed to be partisan officers used as agents of repression against members of the opposition.

Alkali responded to the protests of the opposition and shelved the initial posting before the release of the signal.

He also redeployed more senior officers to the state in order to beef up security during the polls.

According to the latest signal, the IGP posted AIG Sani Dalijan to take charge of Zone 1, Kano.

The signal further shows that Ita Lazarus Uko-Udom will be in charge of Kano Central, with DCP Umar Iya serving as his second-in-command.

Alkali also posted DCP Abdulkadir El-Jamel to supervise Albasu, Gaya, Rogo, Takai, Ajingi, Garko, Wudil and Sumaila Local Government Areas.

For Rano, Bebeji, Bunkure, Doguwa, Kiru, and Kibiya Tudunwada Local Government Areas of Kano South, the IGP posted DCP Adamu Ngojin to take charge.

The IGP also posted DCP Abaniwonda Olufemi to Kano North, with ACP Adamu Sambo serving as his second-in-command.

According to the new signal, DCP Auwal Musa will be in charge of CID, while DCP Aminu Maiwada will take charge of Operations at the Kano command during the election period.
