The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the New Nigerian Peoples Party’s (NNPP) governorship candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf winner of the Kano governorship election.
Abba polled a total of 1,019,602 votes, defeating the incumbent deputy governor, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Party who scored 890, 705 votes.
Sadiq Wali of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 15, 957 votes.
Abba was announced the winner at 7:07 am on Monday morning, almost 17 hours after the collation exercise commenced.
Youths have stormed the streets celebrating an election that many insinuated would be rigged.
