2023: INEC Presents Certificate Of Return To Yahaya, Jatau, Others

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the certificates of return to governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State and his Deputy, Manassah Daniel Jatau alongside others.

Others include the 25 state House of Assembly members elected during the 2023 general elections.

The certificates were presented to the governor and his Deputy on Thursday by the INEC Commissioner in charge of Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba States, Dr Baba Bila.

Meanwhile, the State's Resident Electoral Commissioner, Umar Ibrahim, presented the certificates to the Members-elect of the state's House of Assembly.

Shortly after receiving his certificate, Governor Yahaya described his victory as one for every citizen of Gombe.

"This certificate I received today is a license for us to go all out to do more so that we deliver on the mandate given to us by the electorate," he said.

Addressing those who contested the seat and lost, he said: "As in every electoral contest, there is bound to be winners and losers.

"But for me, there is no victor and no vanquished.

"If the ultimate objective of all political parties and contestants is about the peace, progress and development of Gombe State, it behoves on all of them to support us in moving our dear State forward."

This was contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, spokesperson to the governor.

According to Misilli, the governor expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their support and peaceful conduct throughout the election process.

He commended the INEC for conducting "the most credible polls in Nigeria since the return of democracy in 1999."

Yahaya also lauded security agencies for ensuring that the election was successful and peaceful.
