2023: iPad Mini More Likely Than Folding iPad?

2023: iPad Mini More Likely Than Folding iPad?

There is no doubt that 2022 was exceptionally a smashing success for the Apple iPad with last year alone witnessing the releases of the iPad Air (the 5G model), iPad Pro (11-inch series), iPad Pro (12.9-inch series), and a 10G iPad model.

However, with all of these releases coming after iPad mini, rumours are rife about the possibility of the latest release (a foldable iPad) that will replace the iPad mini.

Gizmo freaks are already wild with the picture of a foldable iPad towing the paths of amazing features of extinct folding phones.

Regarding this trend, Ming-Chi Kuo, the highly respected analyst from the technology research firm, TF International Securities, weighs in with his predictions.

Ming-Chi Kuo is reputed for his accurate predictions and deep insights into the tech industry (especially Apple products).

In a recent review of Ming-Chi Kuo’s tweets, he said, “I think it's unlikely Apple will replace the iPad mini with a foldable iPad in 2025, which may be contrary to what some media previously predicted.

"It's because a foldable iPad will have a markedly higher price than an iPad mini, so such a replacement is not reasonable.”

Thus, if we consider Kuo’s say 90-95% prediction accuracies, it makes sense to conclude that iPad mini is not phasing out soon.

Nevertheless, a foldable iPad (likely the size of an 8.5-inch screen) will seem an absolutely astonishing gadget to own.

Again, Kuo  goes on to opine thus: “Additionally, Apple is currently working on a new version of the iPad mini equipped with a new processor as the main selling point, and the mass shipment is expected to start by the end of 2023 or in 1H24.”

To corroborate Kuo’s perspective, Apple is hardly known for introducing a design of a phone or tablet that it will run just only for one iteration.

This inference lends credence to the fact that this new-style iPad mini, with an all-screen front and side-mounted Touch ID button is meant to last for more than a version.

This is the summary of Kuo’s assertions.

But if we consider the frequency of Apple’s launches and the fact that the iPad mini was launched in 2021, it shouldn’t be farfetched to consider a new version in 2023 possible. So, a folding iPad may still be plausible anyhow!

Again, if Kuo turns out right with his forecasts as is often the case, then a folding iPad may as well go into hibernation for now until further notice.
