2023: Kano Governor-Elect Extends Olive Branch To Other Contestants

2023: Kano Governor-Elect Extends Olive Branch To Other Cont

Kano Governor-Elect, Abba Kabir Yusuf has asked fellow contestants to join hands with him in developing Kano.

Engineer Yusuf extended the olive branch on Wednesday when he received the certificate of return at Kano INEC.

"The election period is over. It is now the time for us to join hands together with a view to offering lasting solutions to the myriad of problems bedevilling
our dear State. For us at the NNPP, it is a No Victor, No Vanquished contest.

"I, therefore, implore you to join hands with us in the spirit of unity and the best interest of Kano State and Nigeria at large.

He described the day as historic, as he thanked the "people of Kano State across all walks of life —ranging from civil servants, the business community, members of the academia, farmers among others— who always stood firmly by our sides despite the intimidation
and turbulence by the powers that be.

"The overwhelming love, support, understanding
and resilience you have shown by coming out en-masse to vote for us," he said.

Equally, I want to thank the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the
Security agencies such as the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, Civil Defense etc, who stood firm in ensuring free, fair and credible elections."

Abba Kabir Yusuf also expressed sadness over "the unfortunate efforts played by some security operatives in trying to undermine the electoral process."

He then called on all stakeholders to respect the sanctity of lives, and protect the entire society, not to some selected people.

The Governor Elect said there is a need for them to conduct their duties with fairness and justice, and desist from siding with any other political party.

Abba Kabir Yusuf commended the media for a pivotal role in ensuring free, fair and credible elections.
