2023: NYSC DG Urges Adherence To Electoral Acts Guidelines B

Brig.-Gen. Yushau Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has called for the neutrality and adherence of corps members who would serve as ad hoc staff during the 2023 elections.

Ahmed's address was read out by the Plateau State NYSC Coordinator at the formal closing ceremony of the 2023 batch “A” stream I corps members' orientation exercise on Tuesday.

He encouraged the corps members to emulate the performance of their predecessors who were praised by both local and foreign observers for their commendable conduct towards the credibility of the election.

He further advised the corps members to carry out their electoral duties with a high sense of responsibility, assuring their safety during the exercise.

The DG stated that the welfare and safety of the corps members before, during and after the exercise have been guaranteed by the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.

He requested the members of the scheme to selflessly offer their services while maintaining peace in their host communities.

Ahmed also cautioned against unnecessary and unauthorised journeys, especially after 6 pm, to avoid being penalised by the management.

He also urged the members to engage in post-camp Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme to learn a skill which will help to boost their socioeconomic status after their service year.

The DG appreciated the state government for creating an enabling environment for NYSC activities in the state.

Yakubu, the State Coordinator also lauded the corps members for their hard work and resilience during the orientation exercise.

She encouraged them to be good ambassadors of the scheme in their host communities.
