2023: Ogun PDP Primaries Nullified By Court

A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State has nullified all primaries conducted by the factions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Delivering the judgment, Justice O. O. Oguntoyinbo also ordered that a new round of primaries must be held within fourteen days.

The Court determined that none of the held primaries adhered to the Electoral Act principles.

Jimi Lawal, a gubernatorial candidate had approached the court to contest the delegate list used during the primary held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta by the Sikirulahi Ogundele faction of the party.

Other gubernatorial candidates also approached the court to challenge the legitimacy of the Sikirulahi Ogundele-led state executive of the party in the state.
