Former Abia state Governor and current Chief Whip of the Senate Orji Uzor Kalu has said that he is open to serve as Nigeria's President as long as the people want him.
Kalu who spoke on Monday during his visit to Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar in Minna, however, stated that he was still going to seek re-election into the senate.
“I am still in the Senate, and I will seek for re-election into the Senate, but if our people want me to serve as President I will not hesitate,” NAN quoted him as saying.

Further speaking on the issue of zoning in the All Progressives Congress, Kalu who stated that there was nothing like zoning in the party constitution added that anyone in the party could contest for the position of the President.
Speaking on the insecurity issue in the country, Kalu alleged that there was sabotage in the country’s security system.
He, however, expressed optimism that the National Assembly would continue to collaborate with the executive in tackling the security challenges in the country.
